I’m web application developer, business and systems analyst with strong skills in C#, SQL, business process mapping and data modeling. Originally from Northeast Ohio, in the USA, I chose to move to Brisbane, Australia in 2004, and love it here.

I first started blogging in March of 2008 around the time I was diagnosed with primary bone non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a fairly rare form of cancer. My blog at the time was called “The Tumor that Ate My Pelvis” and dealt primarily with my experiences with cancer and the treatment I was going through, a blend of chemo and immuno-therapy called R-CHOP.

Initially I started writing because I was kind of bored and unable to find much information on what it’s like to go through chemotherapy. I thought sharing my experience might help someone else and might allow me to meet and chat with other people going through something similar.

What I found was that it helped me keep in touch and in some cases get in touch again with family and friends around the world. I also found I really enjoyed sharing with people, but now, I’m more than 10 years cancer free, and I haven’t felt like writing about cancer in a long time.

So, Irrepressible Tangent was born out of my proclivity for tangential thinking. I tend to draw odd relationships between topics, and I frequently become more interested in the tangent than I was the original topic. A blog seems a fit place for that kind of exploration.
